MacMall Black Friday 2015 ad has plenty of Apple iPad, MacBook, iMac deals – ZDNet

We’ve covered the best Black Friday deals so far on Apple iPads and its Mac computers, but that was before MacMall just launched its 52-page ad for the shopping event, which in this case kicks off at noon Pacific time on Wednesday. Perhaps the best known Apple-centric retailer aside from Apple itself, MacMall doesn’t offer eye-popping discounts but makes up for it with sale prices across a wide range of configurations that other stores often don’t offer.

For instance, its savings on the various 16GB iPad models are more modest than the doorbuster prices elsewhere — $40 off the base iPad Air 2, $25 off the iPad mini 4 — but they are available for all possible permutations, including versions with cellular capabilities. The biggest discount in dollar amount is for the cellular-equipped 128GB Air 2, which will be $75 cheaper for Black Friday. MacMall is also the first place we’ve seen to widely discount the new iPad Pro, though the $12 price drop is merely a token savings.

The deals are a little more aggressive with MacBooks. All MacBook Air laptops receive a price trim of at least $81, with the 11-inch base model receiving a $100 discount (to $799.99) and the 13-inch Air with 4GB of RAM and 256GB SSD earning a $101 savings (to $1,098). The freshly resigned MacBook gets an across-the-board deal of $102 off for all configurations, dropping the base price to $1,197 or about $50 more than Best Buy’s Black Friday deal.

Best Buy also beats MacMall’s price on the base MacBook Pro without a Retina display, lopping another $100 off the price ($899.99 vs $998), but that’s a limited time Thanksgiving doorbuster whereas MacMall’s special is available throughout its Black Friday sale period. MacMall also offers discounts ranging from $51 to $71 for other non-Retina MacBook Pro configurations. The 13-inch Retina versions get $102 off no matter the configuration, and the 15-inch edition is on sale as well, the first time we’ve seen that this Black Friday. The base laptop, which is regularly priced at $1,999, sees its price decreased by $170, while the priciest model is $250 lower, falling to $2,949, though all configurations get at least $151 off.

Mac desktops also receive across-the-board sales, with the 21.5-inch iMac seeing price reductions ranging from $71-$110. That includes the new 4k Retina version, which we haven’t seen discounted before now; the base model is $1,389, or $110 off, for Black Friday. The $130 price reduction on the base 27-inch 5k Retina iMac is again not as aggressive as deals at Best Buy or Fry’s, but MacMall extends the sale for all versions, taking at least $101 off the normal price.

We were only able to find a single deal on the Mac mini, so the fact that Mac Mall is offering any discount at all is good news, though the $34 off the base model and $31 off the next lowest-priced configuration isn’t cause for a ton of excitement. Power users should be more excited that the retailer has the Mac Pro on sale, especially because the $2,999 starting configuration gets a healthy $300 price reduction, with other flavors receiving cuts from $201 to $800, though that’s not even 10 percent off the priciest $9,599 Mac Pro. Then again, that savings could be put towards a more traditional Black Friday deal, like a nice HDTV.
