MacBook Pro 2016 rumors: new laptop to compete with Microsoft’s Surface Book 2? – Vine Report

(REUTERS/Kacper Pempel)Apple’s professional brand laptop, the MacBook Pro, is expected to have a new model this year.

Apple has long been rumored to be working on the next generation of MacBook Pro laptops, featuring a new set of features and improved specs. However, it seems that there is another new device arriving in the market and rumors have it that this upcoming product will become the fiercest competition for the MacBook Pro 2016. As per the latest reports, Apple is said to be facing tough competition from Microsoft’s upcoming Surface-branded devices, including the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Pro 5 hybrid tablet.

The MacBook Pro 2016 has been one of the upcoming Apple devices that has been the subject of intense rumors for several months now, along with the Apple Watch 2, the iPad mini 5, and of course, the much-anticipated iPhone 7 series. The new MacBook Pro was also reported to be replacing the MacBook Air line of laptops entirely, with the Pro line to be the focus of Apple in the coming years, reports have said.

Some of the rumored features of the MacBook Pro 2016 include the replacement of the standard function keys with an OLED touch bar. This new touch bar features a customizable set of commands that works in the same way as the physical functions keys except that the commands are not fixed and can be changed accordingly depending on what the user’s personal preferences are.

There is also the rumored incorporation of Touch ID technology on the laptop’s trackpad, hinting on the possibility of it having an embedded fingerprint sensor. The Touch ID feature is also expected to work as a power button to easily turn on the laptop — with an added layer of security.

On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is also expected to sport an impressive set of specifications. Some of its most rumored specs include the use of the upcoming Intel Kaby Lake processor, more random access memory (RAM) and read-only memory (ROM), and even a display with stunning 4K Ultra HD resolution.
