Here’s a look at what we expect from Apple in the next 12 months: – AppAdvice
For Apple, 2015 was a year of firsts, as both the Apple Watch and iPad Pro were released. In 2016, all the talk is likely to circle back around to the company’s workhorse, the iPhone. The redesigned “iPhone 7″ and “iPhone 7 Plus” are expected to be released in the fall. A 4-inch “iPhone 6c” could launch as early as March. The next year should also see the arrival of a new iPad Air model, redesigned MacBook Pro, “iOS 10,” and much more.
Here’s a look at what we expect from Apple in the next 12 months:
On Jan. 6, the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) kicks off in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here is where many of the cool gadgets for 2016 will receive their introductions. Once again, it should be a big year for home automation, wearable devices, and fitness tools.
Each year, Samsung likes to use the Super Bowl telecast to bash Apple in a series of very expensive television ads. In 2016, we can probably expect more of the same. Super Bowl 50 is on Feb. 7 from Santa Clara, California’s Levi Stadium.
February is also the month for the 2016 Toy Fair in New York City, which runs from Feb. 15 through Feb. 16. Everything on your kid’s Christmas list for 2016 gets its start at this event. Many may work with an iPhone/iPod touch, iPad, or Apple TV.
If the rumors are correct, this is the month when Cupertino unveils the “Apple Watch 2.” We may also see the first new springtime release of an Apple tablet since the short-lived iPad 3 launched in 2012 when the “iPad Air 3″ debuts. The iPhone 6c could also make an appearance.
April through May
We may see new Macs unveiled sometime during these months, including the first MacBook Air with Retina display. A new MacBook and MacBook Pro with Retina display are also possible.
This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is likely to kick off on Monday, June 6. Expect to see previews of iOS 10 and “OS X 10.13″ during this event. Less likely: new hardware announcements.
July and August
Otherwise known as beta testing time for Apple developers, as new versions of iOS, OS X, watchOS, and tvOS get closer to public releases.
The biggest month on the Apple calendar should see the arrival of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. These handsets could be so thin that Apple might ditch the 3mm headphone jack. Also possible: a second-generation iPad Pro and “iPad mini 5.”
October through December
The end of the year could see the arrival of a next-generation, 4K-compatible Apple TV, and Mac Pro. Apple Campus 2 is also expected to open before the end of the year.
In 2016, we expect to see some great Apple products arrive. What do you hope to see from Apple next year?
