E3 2016: Alienware Goes All Out With OLED Laptop And Powerful Desktops – Tech Times

Alienware recently launched four new powerful gaming hardware at the recent E3 2016 convention to open the company’s 20th year.

These are the much-awaited Alienware Aurora, Alienware Area 51 and Alienware Alpha desktops and the Alienware 13 laptop, which was previously announced at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

The new Alienware desktops have been built specifically to support the latest in VR technology, like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, while the new Alienware laptop boasts an OLED-powered screen that displays high-contrast graphics.

Alienware Aurora

The new Alienware Aurora features a smaller body than previous counterparts but boasts a better performance upgrade and supports up to five expansions of 1 TB storage space each.

This unit is also the company’s “first chassis that allows tool-less access for GPU and other upgrades, along with intelligent routing and Wi-Fi antennas to make communication flow.”

The Alienware Aurora mid-tower desktop can work with two graphical processing units (GPU) at the same time to further optimize its capabilities for relentless gaming. Available in single and dual options are Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 950 up to GTX 1080 and AMD’s Radeon R9 370 GPUs.

Customization options include CPU chipsets from Intel Core i3 to Core i7 Extreme Edition and an 8 GB to 32 GB memory as well as 16 GB of Kingston Fury X at 2,400 MHz.

The initial price of the Alienware Aurora is $799, which increases depending on the hardware specifications chosen.

Alienware Area 51

Alienware Area 51 is the company’s “flagship full-tower desktop” that features a triangular-shaped design. Supposedly, this design allows an air cycle to occur, entering the unit from the front and exiting through the back, ensuring that all mechanical parts within the unit do not overheat.

Area 51 is built to support up to 10-core CPUs and triple GPUs. Now that’s just way too much power for regular gaming unless someone actually runs multiple instances on a lot of monitors.

This full-tower desktop should easily meet the demands of developers and programmers, as well as handle the optimal requirements of VR devices.

Options included for the Alienware Area 51 are Intel’s Broadwell-e processors that provide six to 10 cores, Nvidia’s Pascal GPUs and AMD Radeon graphics as well as 8 GB to 64 GB RAM.

The Alienware Area 51’s price tag starts at $1,699.

Alienware Alpha

The Alienware Alpha R2 is an upgrade from its previous counterpart and features the Steam operating system (OS), making it a sort of console computer built specifically for Steam gaming.

Its new design offers up to 60 percent higher performance than its predecessor and while its size is comparable to current consoles on the market, the Alpha delivers higher frame rates, resolutions and settings, according to the company.

Customization options include choices between 6th Generation Intel Cores, an AMD Radeon R9 M470X or Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 and 4 GB to 16 GB RAM.

Alienware 13

What sets apart Alienware’s newest laptop from others is its OLED-powered screen that has the capacity to display high-contrast image quality ratios of 100,000:1. Games played on the unit will now display its art design as developers intended them to be.

Together with the company’s partnership with Samsung, Alienware 13 was also engineered to produce the fastest response time of only 1 millisecond. Coupled with the Alienware Graphics Amplifier, Alienware 13’s performance can be further boosted, comparable to the gaming power delivered by desktop computers.

Options for the laptop include 6th Generation Intel Core i5 and i7 CPUs, 2 GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M, up to 4 GB GeForce GTX 965M, 8GB RAM configurable to 16 GB and a 500 GB or 128 GB + 512 GB storage capacity.

The Alienware 13 OLED laptop’s prices start at $1,299.

The products listed above are all available for purchase starting this week. For more information on specific builds, desktop units can be accessed through the Alienware Desktop product page while laptop details can be accessed through the Alienware Laptop page.
