Reward offered in Lemon Grove school laptop theft – The San Diego Union-Tribune

— Sheriff’s detectives are seeking the public’s help in tracking whoever stole 43 laptops, worth $12,000, from a Lemon Grove elementary school.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

The black Dell Chromebook laptops were stolen from a storage shed on the campus of San Miguel Elementary School on San Miguel Avenue, sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.

The break-in occurred between April 27 and 28. There were no surveillance cameras around the shed, authorities said.

The laptops will work only when connected to the school’s wi-fi service, and when turned on, display a screen reading “Property of the Lemon Grove School District.”

Anyone with information about the thieves or the computers can give an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or www.sdcrimestoppers.org.
