SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — In the $300 to $500 range, you can find a good, solid PC laptop running Windows that should function fast and efficiently for three to five years, depending on usage.
When your shopping for a laptop, stick with name brands — like Dell, HP, Acer, ASUS, Lenovo, and Toshiba
You want at least 4 GB of memory. And you want at least 320 GB of hard drive space, or as much as you can get. Look for a machine that offers two USB 2.0 ports, and at least one USB 3.0 port.
You also want your new laptop to have 802.11g connectivity for the best WiFi speeds.
Another thing to consider is the new convertible devices, or sometimes called 2 in 1 devices. They are both a tablet and a laptop.
