“Oh my,” I said to myself just seconds after Tom Warren posted the first leaked images of Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop. You know, the under-three-pound stunner that Microsoft announced on Tuesday. Microsoft’s first real laptop even feels beautiful, thanks to an aluminum finish and Alcantara microfiber material that surrounds the keys and trackpad. And if the Windows 10 S operating system is too restrictive on a device starting at $999, you can always upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for $49 — a fee that’s being waved until the end of the year.
I’m pretty much locked to the Apple ecosystem at this point, thanks to years of distributing macOS and iOS devices across my family of five. But Microsoft’s hardware, software, and services sure are getting more tempting by the day.
