Police arrest brazen burglar who stole laptop off sleeping victim’s lap – KIRO Seattle

Seattle police say they arrested a suspect in a burglary who stole items from a bedroom where the victims were sleeping as well as a laptop off a sleeping victim’s lap.

Officers were called to a burglary in the 3600 block of 22nd Avenue West early Saturday.

Police say the brazen intruder most likely entered through an unlocked sliding door and then stole a laptop right off the lap of a sleeping victim.

He also took portable speakers, a wallet, backpack and another laptop he found in the room where two of the victims were sleeping.

The stolen bank cards from the wallet had already been used at several retailers, including a local minimart, by the time police were called.

The clerk told officers he remembered the suspect and that he had bought a burgundy bandanna and a large flashlight.

Shortly after 5 p.m. the same day, police received a call from the clerk of the minimart reporting that the same man had returned and was standing out in front of the store.

Officers detained the 18-year-old who had a burgundy bandanna hanging out of his back pocket and a big flashlight.

The man had three stolen bank cards from the burglary as well as three additional cards that were not in his name.

Investigators said his backpack contained the two stolen laptops from the burglary. The speakers and wallet were still missing.

The man was arrested and booked into the King County Jail on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.

The stolen items were returned to their owners.
