Man dragged by car after meeting Craiglist buyer to sell laptop – Wichita Eagle
A Craigslist deal turned sour for a Wichita man Sunday as he was dragged by a car fleeing with his stolen laptop computer.
A 34-year-old man told police he was contacted by a man on Craigslist who wanted to buy his laptop, according to Wichita police Sgt. Bob Gulliver.
When the prospective buyer came to the man’s residence in the 1200 block of South Todd on Sunday morning, he asked the resident to come to his car with the laptop because he was injured, Gulliver said.
When the resident “brought the computer out, the suspect attempted to drive off with the computer without paying for it,” Gulliver said.
The seller grabbed onto to the car as it pulled away, which dragged him about 50 feet before he let go. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries from a fall to the street, police said.
Police are investigating the incident, which was reported at about 9:10 a.m. Sunday. The residence is near Kellogg and Webb. Gulliver said the laptop was worth about $1,000.
