Legion Post 172 finances new Orange FD laptops after hard drives crash – The Recorder

ORANGE — Orange Fire Chief James Young said American Legion Post 172 approached his department a couple of months ago to ask if there were any projects it could financially assist with.

Soon, Young said, opportunity presented itself.

Two of the Orange Fire Department’s hard drives crashed and needed replacement. Post 172 stepped in and financed two new Panasonic Toughbook laptops. Young said the Legion donated $6,388.

Young said the laptops benefit the department EMS service and are used for all electronic reporting and patient care reports, which are forwarded to the town’s EMS billing company.

“We love them. They’re fully functional laptops with detaching screens, so they’re also tablets,” he said, adding that the computers also have touch screen technology and can accept electronic signatures.

Young attended Wednesday’s Orange Board of Selectmen meeting to publicly thank American Legion Post 172 for its generosity.
