So far the district has 500 laptops available for $50 each, but more may become available later in the school year as the district subs them out for more uptodate technology.
Parents can register and purchase them online at dcps.schoolcashonline.com using a credit or debit card. Or they can purchase them in person at school district headquarters, 1701 Prudential Drive, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. The district will take cash, but no checks.
It’s first-come first-served and one laptop per enrolled student. Bring the student’s ID card; district officials will take orders and verify that the purchaser has a child in a Duval county public school.
Parents will pick up their purchased laptops Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Wolfson High, 7000 Powers Ave.
The laptops are re-imaged Lenovo Thinkpad T410 14.1 Notebooks, with Intel Core i5 2.40GHZ processors and 160 GB hard drives. Duval students are eligible for a free operating system upgrade and Office 2016.
