When is Black Friday 2016?
Black Friday traditionally takes place on the first Friday after the American Thanksgiving holiday, which means it falls on 25 November this year – just one month before Christmas. Once Black Friday is over, another event called Cyber Monday gives you a second chance to snag any deals you’ve missed out on.

Although Black Friday is starting on Friday, you can already pick up this rather impressive Lenovo IdeaPad laptop. Sure, it won’t win any design awards, and its specs don’t set the world on fire, but it would make a great second laptop, a device for kids or word processing. At £299, it’s incredibly cheap and worth the punt, but if you’re after something more powerful for a primary device, take a look at our best laptops of 2016.

What else to expect from Black Friday
Lenovo laptop deals
Lenovo has released some new refreshes to its Yoga 500 line recently, and we can expect to see some nifty price drops here. Last year’s Yoga 500 went on sale for just £350 on Black Friday, so fingers crossed we’ll see the same reduction treatment this time around too.
There’s also the futuristic Lenovo Yoga Book to consider too, a fancy 2-in-1 hybrid with an e-ink keyboard and proper paper notepad integration. It’s a futurologist’s dream, and it’ll be great if we get at least a slight price reduction over the course of the weekend.
Dell laptop deals
You’ll usually have to stick around for Cyber Monday, which follows Black Friday, for the best tech deals, though. Last year we saw the Dell Inspiron i7559 gaming laptop drop to just below £1,000 on A16mazon and the slightly more affordable Latitude E5450 stoop to £590 on Ebuyer.
Considering we’ve recently seen a bunch of new Dell Alienware gaming laptops hit the market too, we should see them get at least a little bit cheaper over the weekend. So far, it doesn’t look like anything in the Dell XPS range has seen a reduction in price over recent years, but hopefully Black Friday 2016 will change that.
Apple laptop deals
Last year, we saw decent price drops for a bunch of Apple products, from iPhones to iPads the spotlight was heavily on the tech giant. In 2015 we saw a £50 reduction in price on the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and regular MacBook along with savings on iMacs and Mac Pros too.
You can expect pretty much exactly the same this year, perhaps with an even bigger price drop. Considering we should – if rumours are to be believed, be getting a fancy new MacBook Pro fairly soon, so you’d think retailers would want to get rid of old stock as sharpish as possible. Keep an eye out, it could be an awesome Apple Black Friday this year.
Let’s not forget about Chromebooks though, the super cheap alternative to Windows-based laptop devices. A price reduction on something that’s already pretty low-cost to begin with will be very welcome.
Considering that Black Friday last year saw a lot of Chromebooks from Acer, Toshiba and the like drop below £200, you should have plenty of money leftover to splurge on other things on offer on Black Friday.
