If you’ve been holding out for a new laptop then the January sales are a great time to upgrade.

Many retailers are looking to get rid of their Christmas stock and, if you know what to look for, you can snag a great deal.

Laptops are great because they don’t need to be replaced very often, so grabbing the right deal on a new one now could serve you for the next few years. Which is a good thing, because laptops are expensive things.

Argos are knocking £150 off the price of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, making it £699 rather than £849 .

It’s the 4GB RAM, 128GB HD 12.3-inch version of the great tablet/laptop from Microsoft. And it comes bundled with the all-important keyboard cover.

If you want something a bit cheaper, the retailer has dropped the price of the Acer Aspire ES by a third . It’s down to £199 from £299 and comes with a massive 1TB hard drive.


Amazon has knocked £80 off a convertible 11.6-inch Acer Chromebook laptop . You can now pick it up for £149, down from £229.


Currys have got a couple of really decent laptop deals on for Black Friday, including the Lenovo Yoga 14-inch laptop for £349. That saves you just over £200 on this decent bit of kit that comes with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD.

The HP Pavilion

If you want an all-round family laptop, then there’s also the HP Pavilion with a Full HD 15.6-inch screen. That’s also had £200 off the price bringing it down to £549.

It’s got Intel’s latest i7 processor and 2TB of storage for all your music, movies and files.

John Lewis

There’s a Lenovo Ideapad with 8GB of RAM and a 2TB hard drive available at John Lewis for £499 . That saves you £120 off the original price and it comes with a full 2 year guarantee.

If you’d prefer to buy a MacBook, then the retailer is also offering a refurbished Pro with Retina Display for £1,499 . Nice.

Tesco Direct

Tesco have a decent all-round Acer ES1-571, 15.6-inch laptop available at £199 . Saving you £60.

The laptop comes with Windows 10, 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. It’s a standard workhorse of a laptop and would make a good family or student machine.


The Dell XPS 13

Dell are offering a 7% discount on all of its PCs over £599. All you have to do is use the code SAVE7UK to take advantage.

The company has a decent lineup of laptops and desktops and, if you want a premium machine, it’s well worth checking out the XPS 13 models.
