The bodies were discovered after a woman called police when she returned home and found one roommate, an as-of-yet unidentified man, dead and her other roommate, Debby Constantino, missing, KTVN News reports.
Officers then traced cell phone records to a Sparks, Nevada, apartment complex, according to WTSP. But when they approached, someone inside one of the apartments fired shots at them.
During negotiations with the gunman, officers learned that he was Mark Constantino, Debby’s estranged husband. According to WTSP, the suspect told police, “Give me 15 minutes to gather my thoughts or I’ll kill her,” Reno Deputy Chief Tom Robinson said.
Officers ended up using explosives to blow in the apartment door after unsuccessful negotiations with Mark. But when they entered the apartment, they found the pair dead, KRNV reports.
There was a history of domestic violence between the Constantinos, according to KTVN. In August, Mark Constantino was charged with kidnapping, domestic battery by strangulation and domestic battery after allegedly pulling Debby from a car, taking her inside a house and attempting to strangle her.
The couple’s adult daughter, Raquel Constantino, was also charged with kidnapping, domestic battery, battery and vehicle burglary following the incident. Both Mark and Raquel Constantino, were subsequently let out of jail on bail. Mark had not yet entered a plea to the charges against him before Tuesday’s incident. Raquel has yet to enter a plea.
Mark and Debby Constantino had appeared in Ghost Adventures episodes in which they were billed as experts in EVP (“Electronic Voice Phenomena”), or supposed recordings of ghost voices. They appeared on several episodes of the series between 2008 and 2011.
