US president Barack Obama made his final appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart at the helm, and used the opportunity to take a shot at Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump.
Mr Obama poked fun at Mr Trump’s unexpected rise to the top among the many Republican candidates vying for president.
“I’m sure the Republicans are enjoying Mr Trump’s dominance,” Mr Obama said.
Stewart responded: “Anything that makes them look less crazy”.
Mr Trump continues to cause trouble for his party, publicly giving out the mobile phone number of fellow Republican candidate Lindsey Graham.
Mr Obama also joked he would keep Stewart from leaving the popular Comedy Central show.
“I can’t believe that you’re leaving before me,” Mr Obama said.
“In fact, I’m issuing a new executive order that Jon Stewart cannot leave this show.
“It’s being challenged in courts,” he said in a wry reference to his repeated legal battles with Republican rivals.
The president touched on various topics during his appearance, including the Iran nuclear deal, where he took aim at those opposing the agreement.
Congress is reviewing the agreement reached last week, and could vote to reject it.
Stewart will host his final show on August 6, after more than 15 years in the job.
