At least two people were killed and several others were wounded in a shooting at a South Florida nightclub, police said early Monday. At least three people have been detained.

Fort Myers police Capt. Jim Mulligan told WINK-TV that at least 17 people were wounded in the shooting. Police said in a statement that injuries ranged from minor to life threatening.

Officers responded to a call about a shooting in a parking lot outside the Club Blu Bar and Grill at around 12:30 a.m. Monday. Police said the club was hosting a teen event.

Police located several victims at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Some victims who had been injured left the scene on their own and were treated at local area hospitals, police said.

Two other scenes were being investigated as part of the shooting. There was one person shot at the separate locations. Other cars were riddled with bullets as well.

Police said they’re still trying to determine a motive behind the shooting and looking for others who may have been involved in the shooting.

Syreeta Gary told Fox 4 Now that her daughter and a friend had to run from the gunman. Gary’s daughter wasn’t shot, but her friend was shot in the leg and had to be taken to a hospital. She’s expected to survive her wounds.

One woman told WTSP-TV that she heard about 30 gunshots. Other witnesses described the scene as a “madhouse.”

“It was a mad house people were running everywhere. All people were saying was their friends’ names to see if they’re okay — a lot of phone calls to parents,” he wrote. “But it was one of the scariest sights to just see people come pouring out like that.”
