A person was shot and another taken into custody following reports of a robbery Tuesday at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, L.I., according to reports.

A reporter for Newsday tweeted that Nassau County Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter said “We have one individual shot. We have one subject in custody.”

Cops had received a call regarding a robbery at 12:55 p.m., according to a spokesman for Nassau County police.

The ritzy shopping center is approximately 25 miles from Manhattan.

Witnesses told the Daily News it appeared the shooting happened inside or near the Macy’s in the mall.

Robin Mackey, 28, of Astoria, Queens, said he and his wife had stopped to grab a bite in the food court before going into the department store when all hell broke loose.

“They have a gun, they have a gun!” she heard a man yelling as he ran. “As soon as he said that, there was shooting. I mean consistent gunfire. There was a light gray cloud of smoke coming from gunfire.”

Nassau County Police swarmed the Roosevelt Field Mall following reports of a shooting.

She thought she heard more than 10 shots, followed by “a complete stampede” of shoppers scrambling for the exits, creating a bottleneck of terrified people.

“People were falling to the floor, packages were already all over the floor. It was just mass confusion and chaos. People were on the floor and we had to run over them to get out,” Mackey said. “People were stuck in the doorway, we had to push them out. Everyone’s trying to run out at the same time, cops couldn’t even get in the entrance.”

Christina Nieves, an employee at the Swatch outlet, said he and around nine other people hid in the back of the store.

“I heard two shots, and then a stampede of people running away from Macy’s. It might have happened there or close to the entrance,” Nieves said.

“I saw people trampling and knocking each other over, shoving each other to the side to get away…It was very scary. I want to go home right now actually. I don’t know if they caught the person.”

She said the store remained locked, per its active shooter protocol.

Sam Bradley, the manager of Journey’s, a store in the mall, said he was in the back room organizing merchandise when he heard gunshots. He later saw a gunman shot in shoulder.

“Random people started running into the store to get to safety.  I then saw a bunch of undercovers,” Bradley said. “I saw about 10 ambulances and multiple stretchers.”

Anthony Caliendo, 20, told the Daily News he and his sister were in a long line of cars waiting for a parking space at the mall when he saw 20 people running toward the Meadowbrook State Parkway.

“We saw a lot of people crying. These old people were yelling, ‘Run run run!’ We saw cops everywhere and we figured there was no more holiday shopping, you know what I mean?” Caliendo said.

Tweets from the mall indicated a wild scene as shoppers making holiday purchases ran for their lives.
