President Donald Trump held his Salute to America event in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, vowing to “plant the American flag on Mars” and praising U.S. service members.

At the Fourth of July celebration, supporters and protesters gathered around the capital to have their say on an event that featured military demonstrations. Backers praised Trump’s honoring of the armed forces while opponents say it was a waste of money that focused mainly on himself. The Salute to America event featured flyovers and the presence of military vehicles on the National Mall. Actor Jon Voight was among the crowd in attendance.

Meanwhile, protesters brought a balloon of a Trump as baby and another piece of artwork featured the president sitting on a toilet and tweeting.
