Tom Brokaw Isn’t Buying Hillary Clinton’s Latest Email Excuse [VIDEO] – Daily Caller
Longtime NBC newsman Tom Brokaw says he was “stunned” by Hillary Clinton’s latest response to questions about her home-brew email system.
“She’s made some huge mistakes, in my judgement,” Brokaw said during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
He was responding to Clinton’s interview with Andrea Mitchell earlier this week in which the former secretary of state said she “didn’t really stop and think what kind of email system will there be” when she took office in Jan. 2009.
“When she said ‘I didn’t think about the effect of email,’ I was stunned,” Brokaw said, adding that “we were deep into the digital age at that point.”
Clinton brought the IT director from her campaign over to the State Department to manage the email server, which was run out of her Chappaqua, N.Y. home. The IT staffer, Bryan Pagliano, said earlier this week that he will plead the fifth if called to testify about Clinton’s email arrangement.
“Where were the security people at the State Department saying ‘no, no Madame Secretary, you have to have a secure server over here?’” Brokaw wondered.
“At this point to suggest that a secretary of state, as much as she’s been around, she didn’t think about the impact and the possibility of hacking astonishes me, and I think it takes away from her big argument, ‘I’ve been there, I’ve done that, I know what I’m doing.’”
During her interview, Clinton also issued a pseudo-apology for the setup, saying that she was “sorry that this has been so confusing for people and has raised a lot of questions.” (RELATED: Hillary Apologizes For ‘Confusing’ Americans With Her Private Email Server)
