One dead and eight injured in Colorado school shooting – The Times

A teenager has been killed and eight people have been injured after two male students opened fire in a school in Colorado.

The attack took place at the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math school in Highlands Ranch, near Denver, yesterday afternoon.

The Douglas County sheriff’s office said that an 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tony Spurlock, the sheriff, said that two suspects “walked into the school, got deep inside the school, and engaged in two separate locations”. He added that the suspects, who are believed to have been armed with handguns, opened fire in two classrooms.

Mr Spurlock said that that police were called “almost immediately” by the school, and noted that police arrived two minutes later.
