Microsoft To Launch Surface Pro 4, Band 2 And New Lumia Phones At October 4 … – Tech Times
Microsoft has begun sending out invitations to its Windows 10 devices launch event, set for Oct. 6 in New York.
Devices likely to launch at the event include the Surface Pro 4 tablet, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL mobile handsets and a new Microsoft Band. However, Microsoft has not confirmed any of these devices just yet.
“We have some exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices,” says the invitation. “Join us for the media briefing at the Skylight at Moynihan Station in New York City on October 6th at 10:00 a.m. EDT.”
The event follows a largely disappointing turnout for Microsoft at IFA Berlin earlier this month. The Surface Pro 3 was a successful device, and the company has a lot to follow with the successor.
Of course, it’s unlikely that the Surface Pro 4 will be very different than the Surface Pro 3. Microsoft has promised that it will keep the general form factor and charging mechanism the same for the Surface Pro 4, largely for businesses that have already invested in things like charging stations. There will be a few changes to the device, however. It’s likely that the company will increase the display resolution and will make the device a little slimmer and lighter. Some expect Microsoft to also include a fingerprint scanner.
Recent rumors suggest that Microsoft will also introduce a 14-inch version of the device, which will be one of the larger tablets on the market and follow the announcement of Apple’s iPad Pro, which is the company’s largest tablet to date.
Windows 10 was launched back in July and has since become an increasingly popular operating system. The software runs across computers, tablets and smartphones and is far more loved than the flop that was Windows 8.
