Fiorina center stage in DNC fundraising email – CNN

Washington (CNN)As Carly Fiorina’s national recognition has surged in the wake of two strong debate performances, one group in particular is taking notice: the Democratic National Committee.

The organization sent out an email Saturday challenging Fiorina’s remarks at CNN’s Republican debate this week, the first time the party has made the former Hewlett-Packard CEO the central focus of a fundraising letter.

“The reviews are in and pundits think Carly Fiorina ‘won’ Wednesday’s GOP Debate,” the email reads.

The DNC attacked Fiorina’s record at Hewlett-Packard and said she misrepresented Democrats’ position on immigration reform, as well as falsely describing Planned Parenthood videos at Wednesday’s contest.

“If you want to make sure these ‘winning’ ideas don’t win the White House, add your name,” the email added.

For Fiorina, being targeted by the DNC in a fundraising push is a sign of momentum for her campaign. Typically, the party targets high-profile candidates who can galvanize the base.

On Wednesday, for the second debate in a row, Fiorina was once again the breakout star of the night, taking on Republican front-runner Donald Trump with finesse and capturing the crowd with polished, zinging answers and an impassioned charge against abortion.

Fiorina earned perhaps the biggest applause of the night as she skewered Planned Parenthood.

“This is about the character of our nation, and if we will not stand up and force President Obama to veto this bill, shame on us,” Fiorina said to raucous applause.

Fiorina is expected to surge in the next round of public opinion surveys. In the latest CNN/ORC poll released earlier this month, she captured just 3% of support nationwide.
